I loved to create in other aspects growing up, but I was always playing sports. After I graduated high school, I started getting hair and nail services done on myself. During those appointments, I was just enamored with the process and the feeling one gets when they leave the salon. That little spark was all it took!

Born and raised in Mississippi, Sarah Kate Purvis has made a name for herself in the Oxford beauty scene.

Having an artistic flare, Sarah Kate sought to find an outlet to express this, and she found it as a hair stylist. After graduating cosmetology school in 2006, she hit the ground running, working for a local salon in Oxford, MS until she moved to Dallas, TX to further her career. Sarah Kate returned to Mississippi and opened The Studio in Oxford in 2018, a dream three years in the making.

After some time behind the chair, Sarah Kate began attending top notch education classes as a way to perfect her skills and techniques, as well as,set herself apart. She has attended classes all over the country such as Atlanta, New York, Birmingham, Chicago, and Dallas just to name a few. In addition to training under celebrity stylists such as Tracey Cunningham and Chrissy Rasmussen, she attended several Nine Zero One Academy classes in Los Angeles.

After working in Dallas, Sarah Kate was inspired to “bring the city to the south,” and that is exactly what she set out to do. “My hope is for clients to walk in and feel like they aren’t in small-town Mississippi anymore,” she says. Sarah Kate wanted to offer Oxford locals something unique, and The Studio was her way of doing that.

Sarah Kate’s goal to create not just great looking hair, but healthy hair, is her prime objective. “Providing my clients with great looking hair, without sacrificing the health of their hair, is my top priority.”
